Patiala: Five persons from a village of Fatehgarh Sahib tested positive of Covid-19 on Monday in Fatehgarh Sahib. Two of five infected persons recently returned from Delhi. The samples of all the family members were taken for testing by the health department on Saturday. The tally in the district has reached 63 positive cases so far of which six are active cases.
The district health authorities claimed that all these family members hail from Panaichan village of Khamano block in the district. The authorities initiated the process to trace out the contacts of the infected persons that includes three men and two women.
The officials claimed that three persons including a woman who used to work as a staff nurse at a private hospital in Delhi had reached their native house in Panaichan village on May 26 and their samples were taken on May 30. They said that the staff nurse tested Negative of the virus while her husband and son tested positive of the virus. The officials revealed that three other family members might have contracted an infection from the family members who returned from Delhi.
Civil surgeon Dr NK Aggarwal said, “We are tracing out the contacts of five members of a family and if a few more cases are tested positive in the village the containment exercise will be initiated.”
In Patiala district the tally has reached 126 positive cases on Monday after another ASHA worker tested positive for the virus. It is the second case in which a health care worker of
Punjab government had tested positive in Patiala as earlier also an ASHA worker had tested positive of the virus but all her 26 contacts including family members and five colleagues had tested negative.
Patiala civil surgeon, Dr Harish Malhotra, said, “Two international travellers from Qatar, a woman who returned from Delhi recently and an ASHA worker are among the four new cases. We are tracing out the contacts of the infected persons and samples will be collected for testing. Second ASHA worker tested positive in our district.”
