AHMEDABAD: Gujarat became third in India to cross 10,000 discharges of
Covid-19 positive patients after treatment after Maharashtra (29,329) and Tamil Nadu (13,170) with 10,780.
Gujarat recorded 423 positive cases in 24 hours ending 5 pm on Monday, taking the total to 17,217. The new cases include 314 from Ahmedabad, 39 from Surat, 31 from Vadodara and 11 from Gandhinagar.
It was third consecutive day for Gujarat when 400-plus cases were recorded in 24 hours, or close to four cases every minute. Gujarat has so far recorded 400-plus cases five times out of which three were on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Anand crossed 100 total positive cases with addition of two cases on Monday, becoming 12th district of Gujarat to have over 100 total Covid-19 positive cases.
Likewise, the state also recorded death of 25 Covid-19 positive patients, increasing the death toll to 1063. The deceased include 22 from Ahmedabad, two from Surat and one from Aravalli districts.
Record 861 patients got discharged in 24 hours, taking the total number of discharged in Gujarat to 10,780. The discharged patients include 790 from Ahmedabad – the highest single-day figure for the district – along with 26 from Surat, 21 from Vadodara and 4 from Gandhinagar.
With the update on Monday evening, now Gujarat has 5374 active patients (31.2%), 10,780 patients discharged (62.6%) and 1063 patients dead (6.2%). In terms of active patients, Gujarat is now at fourth spot after Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi. Out of total active cases, 65 are on ventilator and are considered critical, said state health department officials.
Gujarat carried out 4328 tests to identify new Covid-19 positive patients in past 24 hours, taking the total to 2.16 lakh. The number is a drop from 6150 recorded on Sunday.
The number of persons under quarantine got dropped to 2.14 lakh in Gujarat including 2.33 lakh in home quarantine. Other persons are either institutional or government facilities, said officials.
