Bengaluru: The
Karnataka government that was keen to open temples, restaurants and
shopping malls from June 1st, will now stick to the Centre’s guidelines and re-open prohibited activities in a phased manner.
The state government issued guidelines on Sunday to allow activities outside containment zones in three phases on lines of the Central orders. As per the latest guidelines, restaurants, places of worship and shopping malls will be opened on June 8. A decision on starting schools and colleges will be taken in July.
The government has, however, revised the
night curfew time from the previous 7 pm-7 am to 9 pm-5 am. “Movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited between 9 pm and 5 am throughout the state, except for essential activities,” chief secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar said in his
lockdown extension order. He has directed local authorities to issue appropriate orders like Section 144 for strict compliance of night curfew.
The state will implement lockdown rules strictly in containment zones until June 30. Twenty six containment zones are in Bengaluru alone. The government will allow only essential activities in containment zones.
BIGGEST SINGLE-DAY jump IN cases, most discharges too
Karnataka reported 299 cases of Covid-19 on Sunday, the biggest single-day spike in cases so far. The state also reported two Covid-related deaths — in Raichur and Bidar. With this, the total number of Covid cases in the state is 3,221, with 51 deaths. What came as a relief is the discharge of 221 patients, which is also the highest single day discharge in the state.
The state will implement lockdown rules strictly in containment zones until June 30.
