Representative imagePRAYAGRAJ: The High Courts at Allahabad and Lucknow will resume work from June 8, with strict adherence to social distancing and other measures to combat the threat of coronavirus.
This announcement was made under the order of Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court Govind Mathur after the Union ministry of home affairs (MHA) issued guidelines for the phased re-opening of all activities outside containment zones for the next month beginning June 1.
The court working in High Courts at Allahabad and Lucknow was suspended in March after the announcement of nationwide lockdown.
According to registrar protocal of Allahabad HC, Ashish Srivastava, till further orders, only the special benches constituted shall remain operational.
Under the new arrangement, advocates aged 65 or more may appear and argue the cases through video-conferencing as they would not be allowed to enter the high court as per the applicable protocol for lockdown.
Further, not more than six advocates will be permitted to remain in the courtroom at any given time. Besides, the advocates will leave the court immediately after hearing of their cases.
The robes prescribed for the judges and lawyers shall remain suspended till further orders, the new notification added.
