Coming soon: Big Brother Australia has finally announced all 20 housemates ahead of the show's premiere on June 8 at 7:30pm on Channel Seven. Pictured: host Sonia Kruger
The reboot will premiere on June 8 at 7:30pm on Seven, hosted by Sonia Kruger in her first major role for the broadcaster since being poached from Nine last year.
Seven executives will be hoping the new series is a ratings smash after spending millions on rights to the Big Brother name and format.
The stakes are even higher for the network because My Kitchen Rules flopped in the first quarter of 2020.
Despite an expensive advertising campaign, marketing expert Mark Ritson warned in The Australian on Monday that there 'is a significant risk the show might well bomb'.
He argued that audience tastes have evolved since Big Brother first launched in 2001, and viewers now want more salacious reality TV storylines.
Big Brother has been pre-recorded for the first time in the franchise's history this year, and the compound has been moved from Dreamworld on Queensland's Gold Coast to Sydney's Manly.
