Within Containment Zones, lockdown restrictions will continue till June 30. All activities will be relaxed in phased manner outside containment zones. The states may impose restrictions/prohibit activities as per assessment.

Coronavirus Lockdown 5.0: The Centre on Saturday extended the lockdown in the containment zones till June 30, while easing many restrictions imposed on certain activities across the country. In the detailed guidelines issued earlier in the day on lockdown 5.0, the MHA has permitted many activities outside containment zones from June 8. “Within Containment Zones, lockdown restrictions to continue till 30.06.2020. All activities to be relaxed in phased manner outside containment zones…States may impose restrictions/prohibit activities as per assessment,” the MHA spokesperson said while attaching the detailed guidelines on Twitter.
What is permitted (from June 8)
Phase-I
Religious places and places of worship for public.
Hotels, restaurants and other hospitality services.
Shopping malls.
The MHA says that the Health Ministry would issue standard operating procedures for the above activities, in consultation with the Central Ministries concerned and other stakeholders, for ensuring social distancing and to contain the spread of Covid.
Phase-II
Schools, colleges, educational/training/coaching institutions will be opened after consultations with States and UTs. The state governments and UTs will hold consultations at the institution level with parents and other stakeholders. Based on the feedback, a decision on the re-opening of these institutions will be taken in the month of July, 2020.
Phase-III
Limited number of activities to remain prohibited throughout the country
- International air travel of passengers
- Operation of Metro Rail
- Cinema halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars and auditoriums, assembly halls.
- Social/ political/ sports/ entertainment/ academic/ cultural/ religious functions/ and other large congregations.
- Dates for the opening of above activities would be decided in Phase III, based on assessment of the situation.
Unrestricted Movement of Persons and Goods
No restriction on inter-State and intra-State movement of persons and goods. No separate permission/ approval/ e-permit would be required for such movements. However, if a State/ UT, based on reasons of public health and its assessment of the situation, proposes to regulate movement of persons, it would give wide publicity in advance regarding the restrictions to be placed on such movement, and the related procedures to be followed.
Night curfew
Night curfew would continue to remain in force, on the movement of individuals, for all non-essential activities. However, the revised timings of the curfew will be from 9 pm to 5 am.
Use of Aarogya Setu encouraged
The official notification also advised in favour of extensive use of the Aarogya Setu app to quickly identify the people infected with Covid-19 and break the chain of the spread of the disease.
Protection for vulnerable persons
The government also advised vulnerable set of people including senior citizens, children, pregnant women and persons suffering from life-threatening diseases to remain inside the confines of their homes.
