Designed by interior pro Gauri Khan, Sidharth Malhotra's luxurious home in Pali Hill is one you must check out. Take the tour now
After styling the homes of several Bollywood heavy hitters like Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez, celebrity interior designer Gauri Khan extended her aesthetic to Sidharth Malhotra’s home in Pali Hill, Mumbai. “I wanted to create a warm, inviting space to retreat to after a hectic day,” Khan told Vogue India in 2018, just as she finished curating the space. Whether it is through working out, spending time with his adorable bulldog Oscar, cooking, or reading a book, Malhotra has been making the most of his bachelor pad during quarantine. Fuss-free and minimal with a neutral colour palette, the space echoes the actor’s private and mysterious persona. From the expansive living area to the balcony, we give you the full tour of Sidharth Malhotra’s Mumbai residence.
Sidharth Malhotra’s entrance might be the most personalised—and old-school—corner of the actor’s otherwise modern home. Set against a high ceiling and black and white striped wallpaper are posters of Malhotra’s favourite films—’80s iconic crime thrillers seem to be his go-to genre. Illustrations of Al Pacino’s Scarface and Martin Scorsese’s Good Fellas feature over a wooden table with lamps and antiques.
A walnut treasure-chest table and an ochre leather couch against a purple streak on the wall take centre stage in Malhotra’s sophisticated living room. The surrounding edges feature varied seaters in hues of white. Even the accents are sprinkled symmetrically in this clean space—a diffuser resting on a Tom Ford coffee table book on side balances out the potted plant and a wooden tissue box on the other, while the black and white patterned cushions match the rug. Colourful framed photographs of urban cities provide a vibrant contrast to this muted setup. According to Malhotra, his living room does a good job of being “casual, yet chic.”
While black and blue are the dominant hues of Malhotra’s living room, his dining area is a play on shades of brown. A wooden six-seater with suede chairs rests on a patterned beige rug, with a red and white floral centrepiece adding colour to the scape. Illuminating this area are three lamps of varying shapes suspended from the ceiling. Another tall burnt orange lamp rests in a corner, matching the ones around Malhotra’s living room couch. This setting reflects in the wall mirror that immediately makes the space look double in size.
“Now I have a place to chill while looking at Mumbai,” the actor says of his balcony, which offers a sweeping view of the city's beautiful skyline. Want to know an interesting piece of trivia about the balcony? It also houses a white hammock in one of its corners, which Shah Rukh Khan once claimed was stolen from him, in a funny tweet to Malhotra. An al fresco seating area and a black sunburst mirror are other elements one can spot in the actor’s balcony.
Much like the rest of his home, Malhotra’s kitchen is minimalistic, but takes the ‘less is more’ mantra a step further with its pristine, all-white interiors. Its glass windows provide Malhotra with a view of the city, keeping him company while he experiments with new dishes. Just recently, Malhotra shared some footage on Instagram of his attempt at butter garlic prawns during quarantine.
Malhotra’s home might be easy on the eyes, but the most aesthetically pleasing nook of his apartment has to be the massive wood-panelled mirror with its makeup studio lights. It rests adjacent to a green leather recliner and could possibly be part of the actor’s bedroom.
