Coronavirus update: Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the strategy ahead as Lockdown 4.0 ends on Sunday. Shah had earlier asked for feedback from chief ministers on extending the lockdown to contain the coronavirus.
India has recorded its biggest single-day spike of 7,466 in coronavirus cases. Its total tally has now reached 165,799. Maharashtra continues to have the highest number of Covid-19 cases, at 59,546. With the latest spike in cases, India has replaced Turkey to be the ninth-most-affected nation in this pandemic.
Coronavirus world update: The global tally of coronavirus cases has reached 5,906,202, and 362,024 people have died from the disease so far.
