Former Chhattisgarh CM Ajit Jogi passes away

Chhattisgarh’s first Chief Minister Ajit Pramod Kumar Jogi passed away today at the age of 74 years. He breathed his last at a private hospital in capital Raipur, where he was admitted after a cardiac arrest and subsequent swelling in brain on May 09.

At present, Jogi was MLA from Marwahi constituency. He became the first Chief minister of Chhattisgarh in November, 2000, when the new state was carved out of Madhya Pradesh. He remained as Chief minister till December, 2003 when the congress lost power to BJP in state’s maiden assembly elections.

About 4 years ago, Jogi quit the Congress in June , 2016 and floated a new regional party Janta Congress Chhattisgarh. His party won 5 assembly seats in the last assembly elections held in year 2018.
