• Bakkies with big loading bays
• Pricing ranges from R210 499 - R591 300
• Ranger and Hilux lead the list
One of the reasons why South Africa is such a bakkie-rich market is because buyers often purchase these vehicles for hauling purposes.
As such, this article will look at five popular single cab bakkies and the sizes of their respective loading bays.
All loading bays are measured in length x width x depth. While the millimetres differ by the smallest of margins from bakkie to bakkie, it often makes a huge difference when the loading process is underway.
The Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux are the bakkies with the biggest loading bays, followed by the Isuzu D-Max, Mahindra Pik Up, and Nissan NP300. For those interested, the unbraked and braked towing capacity for most bakkies here is 750kg and 3500kg, but the Pik Up has a braked towing capacity of 2500kg.
The NP300's unbraked and braked towing capacity is 745kg and 1400kg, respectively.
