THANE: A
guard from Thane central jail, residing in Mumbai was tested
Covid-19 positive.
The officials at the jail stated that he had probably got the infection from Mumbai and authorities confirmed that no one is being tested for the infection or being quarantine from the jail as he had not come in contact with anyone.
“The guard was stationed outside the jail premises and did not come in contact with any other staff or inmate. It is likely that he got the infection from the building he resides in
Lower Parel as a person staying there was tested positive,” said
Harshad Ahirrao superintendent of police, Thane central jail.
Ahirrao added, they will still be keeping tabs on inmates and staff and in case anyone shows symptom of the infection.
Meanwhile, as many as 154 Covid-19 positive patients and three deaths were reported within 24 hours on Thursday.
So far 2604 positive patients have been recorded, death toll is 75 and 1085 patients who were infected have been discharged.
