Representative imageKOLKATA: A frontline neo JMB operative who is considered in the top hierarchy of the Bangladesh based terror module Jamat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) has been arrested by the Special Task Force of Kolkata.
The accused Abdul Karim alias Boro Karim, an Indian national was wanted in several terror cases lodged in Bangladesh and India since 2017 and is part of the neo JMB faction that is ideologically inspired by the IS.
"He was arrested in the wee hours of Friday morning from Suti area under Jangipur district police limits in Murshidabad with the assistance of local police. He will be produced before a local court today and we will seek police custody. With his arrest the top three wanted JMB terrorists in India is now reduced to two. Among those wanted is it's head Saauddin Salaeih," said DC (STF) Aparajita Rai.
According to STF sources, he was the main leader of the Dhuliyan module of JMB in Murshidabad and would actively supply logistics and support and shelter to top leaders like Saleuddin. His name was mentioned as the main operative also by JMB terrorists in Bangladesh during their interrogation.
"In 2018 we have seized substantial quantity of explosives and jehadi material from his house during a sudden raid but he escaped and we had been trying to arrest him since. We have finally tasted success," said DC Rai.
