'Declare Tibet an independent country': US lawmaker Scott Perry introduces bill as US steps up pressure on China

Amid the ongoing tension between the US and China, Republican lawmaker Scott Perry introduced a bill in the Congress to authorize President Donald Trump to recognise Tibet as an independent nation. Perry, a Republican from Pennsylvania, has also introduced a similar bill for Hong Kong and these two bills have been referred to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. China and the US have locked horns over coronavirus pandemic with Washington demanded a thorough investigation of the origin of the deadly virus which has claimed the lives of 351,866 people so far.
