The state is mulling to truncate school syllabus if the reopening of schools were fixed beyond July due to coronavirus pandemic.

School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan
Chennai:
The move was considered based on the representations of private and state-run schools as they felt that teachers would not be able to cover the full portion if the academic year starts by August.
School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan on Wednesday also said that truncating of syllabus was on the cards and the expert committee formed would decide on it. A senior official from the Directorate of School Education told DT Next that academicians and parents were totally against early reopening of schools. “Even if the government decides to open the schools, it is up to the Centre to give permission for it,” he said.
