Australian singles have been screamed at, cried to and stood up in swanky restaurants on disastrous first dates, a question and answer session on Instagram has revealed.
Radio producer Jana Hocking, who works at Sydney's Triple M station, asked her 13,000 followers to share their worst dating experiences on Wednesday night, prompting dozens of responses that ranged from hilarious to downright horrifying.
The 34-year-old, who writes about her relationships and romantic escapades, recently recounted one of her own cringe-worthy encounters which saw her date leave the cinema to 'go to the toilet', only to return 'ages' later after eating sushi by himself.
One man said he had dinner with a woman who ordered four dishes, ate every bite without much conversation, then bluntly revealed she was pregnant with her ex's child.
A woman went to a bar with a man who told her he was addicted to prescription medication, minutes into their first drink.

Another was horrified to learn about her date's morbid family history before they had finished their main course.
'I went on a first date with a guy who told me his dad was in prison for murdering his mum,' she said.
One man was forced to act as a therapist on a first date with a drunken woman who broke down in tears about her appearance.
'She showed up drunk and started crying because she didn't feel attractive,' he said.
A woman went home with a bruised ego after her date asked how she had broken her nose. 'I've never broken my nose,' she said.
A jilted romantic made a booking at an upscale Sydney restaurant, dressed to the nines and waited patiently in the lobby - only to be stood up without explanation.

More anonymous daters reveal their tales of woe, including a man who drove 90 minutes before his date cancelled (left) and a woman who faced the wrath of a scorned girlfriend (right)

The experiences ranged from disappointing to downright bizarre, with one man shunned in favour of his friend (left) and a woman disturbed by her date's morbid family history (right)
Another made it through dinner with a woman from overseas only to be left with a very hefty bill.
'Had a great dinner and drinks. I paid. She got up and ran out the door. Backpacker, free meal,' he said.
A similarly unlucky-in-love man drove 90 minutes to meet a woman for the first time, only for her to cancel when he was five minutes from her front door.
One man was excited about his blossoming relationship with a new woman, until she started asking questions about his friend.
'Turns out they ended up together,' he said.
Others had cringe-worthy encounters with men and women who were clearly not over their past loves.
'My date got a call mid-meal from her ex, then left crying,' a man said.
One unsuspecting woman faced the wrath of a scorned girlfriend who was still in a relationship with her adulterous date.
'His girlfriend turned up at the bar screaming 'CHEATER' because she tracked his phone,' she said.
A man was relieved to say goodbye to his date after enduring an awkward dinner without any chemistry, but the feeling was not reciprocated.
'After a bad date, she followed me home and knocked on my door two hours later drunk,' he said.
