LUCKNOW/BHOPAL: Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh governments on Wed- nesday moved to get
employment opportunities for lakhs of native migrant workers who were returning to both the states.
The
Yogi Adityanath government is set to sign MoUs with the Indian Industries Association (IIA) and
National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) for employment of 7.5
lakh people annually.
An official said that as per the MoUs, the two organisations, one linked to
MSMEs and the other (NAREDCO) the apex body of real estate developers, would be reaching out to industries and builders to collect information about labour demand from various industries, the- ir experience, skill sets amo- ng other information pertinent for giving employment. The details will be shared with the government which will connect people listed in its data bank with industries that seek human capital.
In MP, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan rolled out a massive exercise to create a database of migrant labourers who have returned so that the government could re-employ them in the state and help them wherever they go in search of work.
“If any labourer goes to earn livelihood in some other state, then their record must be maintained so that we can take care of them there, too,” Chouhan told ANI, asking district collectors to get information on labourers who leave MP for work. About 6.5 lakh migrants have returned to MP during the lockdown.
