GTU to conduct college exams from June 25; check guidelines here

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat Technological University (GTU) on Wednesday issued guidelines for conducting ‘summer examination 2020’ starting June 25.
The terminal exam will be held for diploma and undergraduate in their final semester as well as for second and fourth semester postgraduate candidates.
As many as 1.2 lakh students from including diploma engineering, diploma pharmacy, degree engineering, degree pharmacy, architecture, MBA, MCA, ME and M Pharm are expected to take the exam, a detailed schedule of which will soon be displayed on the official website of the varsity.
There are more than 550 colleges affiliated to GTU and more than 5.5 lakh students are enrolled in them.
The decision by the state’s largest varsity comes on the heels of Gujarat government’s recent notification regarding college level exams to begin from June 25. The duration of the exam will remain two hours.
“We have declared the exam start dates for various courses so students can be well prepared,” said Naveen Sheth, vice-chancellor, GTU.
Revised paper style applicable only for Summer- 2020 examination will be displayed on GTU website, as per the guidelines. For intermediate semester in undergraduate, diploma courses, Merit Based Progression will be implemented as suggested in the state government’s recent notification.
The colleges and varsities in Gujarat were shut down due to Covid-19 pandemic and the countrywide lockdown. As a result, most of the college-level exams could not be conducted.
The exams will be conducted as per the guidelines by the state government which includes wearing masks, social distancing and proper sanitization measures. Each exam room will have a maximum of 15 candidates, said sources. Persons not wearing mask should not be allowed to enter inside the exam center.
External theory examination will be conducted for all regular/remedial semesters of PG courses.
If practical examination is already conducted by Institutes than the marks obtained by the students will be submitted by Institute to the University. Else, the varsity will follow the Merit Based Progression, said sources. Viva exams will be conducted by the institute’s endorsed faculty using online video conferencing, sources added.
