A Gujarat court on Wednesday granted bail to journalist Dhawal Patel, arrested on charges of treason. The journalist from the news portal was arrested for publishing an article that purportedly stated that Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has failed to deal with the Kovid-19 pandemic in the state, hence, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was accused by the BJP high command Union Minister Mansukh Mandavia can be made the Chief Minister by removing him from the post.
While granting regular bail to the journalist, the sessions court judge PC Chauhan said that he will now hear the plea seeking cancellation of the FIR. The FIR was filed by the Crime Branch of the Ahmedabad Police under Section 124 (A) of the Indian Penal Code and the Disaster Management Act.
