Representative image. LUDHIANA: A wine shop employee at Kadoon village was allegedly murdered by a group of miscreants after he refused to sell them liquor after working hours on Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as 28-years-old Shatrugan Pardhan alias Bablu, who belonged to Orissa but had been working in state for last about six years.
Rajinder Kumar, owner of the liquor vend, said that Bablu used to work with them for last about five years and he along with other worker would live inside the vend only. He added that on Wednesday five to seven miscreants came to buy liquor from his shop at around 11 pm but since the administration has allowed them to do sale till 6 pm, so the worker refused to sell them the same.
The owner alleged that the accused then used bad words for the deceased and beat him up. He added that the accused again came around 1 am on Thursday morning and beat him again.
Police officials said that it was perhaps the irony that Bablu had come out to attend nature’s call and incidentally the accused persons were passing through the vend when they saw him. They added that the accused then caught hold of him and badly beat him up.
Cops said that as the deceased continued to raise alarm, Jeet Ram saw them throwing the dead body of his co-worker in field as he had already died of severe beating. They added that after that the accused fled from the spot after which Jeet Ram informed the owner who called police.
On being informed, cops from Doraha police station led by SHO Doraha police station Inspector Devinderpal Singh reached the spot and started probe into the matter. The police then recovered dead body of the deceased and got it shifted to Civil Hospital for post mortem examination.
Police later booked four accused under section 302 (murder) of IPC.
