NEW DELHI:
Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday accused
Rahul Gandhi of trying to weaken the country’s resolve in fight the
coronavirus, saying the former
Congress chief’s entire campaign against the government is based on “falsehood, misrepresentation and deliberate twisting of facts”.
Later, BJP released a collage of media reports to stress that Rahul has been inconsistent in his remarks on lockdown, changes in labour laws and several other issues. “Ever since the crisis started, Rahul Gandhi has been trying to weaken the re solve of the country in the fight against coronavirus,” Prasad said and added that making unsubstantiated claims had become a trait of the Congress functionary. Prasad said excluding China, worst-hit 15 countries have acombined population of 142 crore.
“According to a WHO report, as many as 3,43,562 people have died in these countries as on the evening of May 26,” he said. “India alone has a population of 137 crore and only 4,345 people have died in the country due to the virus. The recovery rate in the country is more than 41%. While deaths are unfortunate, there is no cure for coronavirus,” he said.
