Paytm confirmed its partnership with Vodafone Idea and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to allow feature phone users to recharge their numbers using UPI.
The company mentioned that ‘Vodaphone and Idea users will now have the feature of recharging their phones by using a valid UPI ID. This service will be extended and provided throughout the country with the assistance of telecom major and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
With this additional feature, the people of the nation will be able to recharge their mobile phones without visiting the stores.
this service permits portable financial exchanges utilizing essential features of mobiles without the need of having access to the web for utilizing USSD based banking.
Abhay Sharma, Vice President of Paytm said that "with millions of phone users in the country most the people are daily wage earners and due to the current situation of lockdown it is not easy to have access to stores and it is also difficult to recharge their phones via kiosks as they majorly have basic phones which most don’t even have internet access."
Phone users having a UPI ID to keep in touch with their near and dear ones even if they don't find mobile recharge shops in their localities, mentioned the Chief Operating Officer of NPCI, Praveena Rai
Director-Marketing of Vodafone Idea, Avneesh Khosla quoted that ‘over the most recent two months, the organization has propelled a large number of activities to assist buyers with remaining associated. In case the client's UPI ID isn't enlisted with BHIM UPI, they need to dial *99# after which they are connected with the bank account with the registered number from where the USSD is dialed in. The client at that point chooses the financial balance he needs to enroll his UPI ID with and sets up a UPI PIN.
