Representative imageKANPUR: A team from Panki police station arrested two criminals allegedly involved in a loot-cum-murder incident wherein a 40-year-old CISF personnel posted at an under construction Panki Power plant was battered to death after being allegedly robbed of his SUV by unidentified persons on Tuesday. The accused were also injured in the exchange of fire that took place during recovery of murder weapon in Panki area around 5am on Wednesday.
The criminals have been identified as Mohan Verma and Saurabh Singh Kushwaha of Panki. The criminals, who suffered bullet injuries, have been admitted to a hospital in Bara Sirohi Kalyanpur.
The duo had allegedly battered to death an assistant sub-inspector of CISF, Ramveer, before robbing him of his SUV, on Tuesday evening. They later dumped his body in Panki canal. After the recovery of the body of the deceased an investigation was launched.
The police team from Panki had a tip-off that the duo were in the Shivrajpur area of the district. The police team chased them and managed to nab them late on Tuesday night.
“It was during the recovery of weapon wherein the two were taken to the site of incident in Panki that one of the accused tried to snatch a gun from a cop and a fire was shot. The police team escaped the target, but the accused sustained injuries in retaliatory action,” said Dr Anil Kumar, SP west.
