The locust teams have shifted to Karauli district and other areas bordering Uttar Pradesh after a control drive in Rajasthan's Dausa district on Tuesday. There are reports of locust parties reaching the Nagpur and Wardha districts of Maharashtra after the attacks of locust parties in Madhya Pradesh. Due to this, a high alert has been declared in 10 districts adjoining Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan in Uttar Pradesh. UP officials said that heavy spraying of chemicals has been ordered at night in the districts bordering the two states.

According to Uttar Pradesh Deputy Director of Agriculture Kamal Katiyar, orders have been placed in the districts bordering Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to keep the sprayer-filled tractors, power sprayers and fire brigade trucks filled with chemicals. Also, the heavy spray has been asked at night. Along with this, the local villagers have also been instructed to make a loud sound by playing thali and dropping crackers.

Katiyar said that a group of locust parties was seen in the Jhansi forest on Sunday, which has been eradicated by the state and central teams by 40 percent by spraying chemicals. Due to the wind direction, this locust team is expected to enter the Mahoba district. Therefore, Mahoba officials have been asked to be on high alert. In Jhansi, grasshoppers have damaged vegetables in an area of ​​about 25 hectares.

For the locust team arriving in Karauli, Rajasthan, he said that due to this, along with the border districts of Jhansi, Lalitpur, Jalaun, and Auraiya, the adjoining districts of Hamirpur, Kannauj, Etawah, and Kanpur have been kept on high alert. He said pesticide spraying campaigns will be conducted in these districts at night.

In Mathura, preparations have been made in view of the possibility of grasshopper attacks. Sarvaghiram Mishra, District Magistrate of Mathura said, "200 liters of Clopiriphos have been kept in reserve and there is a ban on the supply of these chemical vendors outside the district in the area." Jhansi District Magistrate Andra Vamsi said, "The villagers have been asked to tell the control room as soon as the locust teams are seen." The fire department has been asked to keep trucks loaded with chemicals ready for emergency situations.

Farmers fleeing locusts in Sehore by playing plates

In the Budhni and Nasrullaganj areas of Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh, farmers on Tuesday played plates to drive out locust parties. Apart from this, the spraying of pesticides on trees and crops has also been done. According to agriculture scientist Jainendra Kumar, the grasshopper attack is likely to cause heavy damage to crops. The agriculture department and the district administration have been asked to monitor the issue.
