VARANASI: After a long suspension of flights during lockdown in the wake of coronavirus outbreak, the air service resumed at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport on Monday with the arrival of 1,215 passengers and departure of 504.
According to district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma, a total of 1,215 passengers from different places including Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad and others arrived here by 11 flights on the first day and 11 scheduled flights departed with 504 passengers for Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Jaipur and Hyderabad.
As many as 500 passengers arrived from Delhi by four flights, 185 from a flight from Ahmedabad, 216 from Mumbai by two flights and 112 by a flight from Hyderabad. Besides, 212 passengers departed to Delhi by four flights, 51 by a flight to Ahmedabad, 120 passengers flew to Mumbai by two flights, 51 to Ahmedabad and 57 passengers left for Hyderabad.
The DM along with other officials and airport authorities visited the airport to see the arrangements of thermal scanning of passenger and other precautionary measures like social distancing and provision of sanitizers.
