The District Administration, Ranchi helped produce 7000 ICU grade PPE’s at affordable cost
Arvind Limited, Ranchi supported by manufacturing PPE’s
Ranchi, Jharkhand: 26th May, 2020: Arvind Limited, textile-to-retail conglomerate, recently partnered with The District Administration, Ranchi for manufacturing highly affordable PPE’s. When the country was struggling with availability of PPEs, the Ranchi District administration team came forward with an innovative solution of using affordable alternatives to both reduce the production cost and solve the supply shortage issue. Arvind with all its knowledge of technical textiles partnered with administration for the manufacturing of these PPEs at its Ranchi facility.
The fabric used in these PPEs is SITRA approved and are of the highest quality. Total of 7000 ICU grade PPE’s are produced with over 1000 of them are already in use. As of now, Arvind is manufacturing around 800-1000 kits daily. Total of 15000 PPEs will be handed over to the administration.
Talking about the development Shri. Rai Mahimapat Ray, Deputy Commissioner, Ranchi, Jharkhand mentioned that, “The COVID-19 crisis came with the challenge to make the maximum use of the available resources at hand and the district team with various experimentation are now using simple yet innovative solutions and alternatives which makes it affordable. Arvind Limited has made a great contribution in this by manufacturing these PPEs at such short notice and taking this up as CSR initiative. This success shows Make in India can truly work.”
Adding further Shri. Ray emphasized that, “Ranchi is the only district providing PPEs made with ICU grade certified materials for other frontline workers that too at affordable cost of Rs. 250.”
Speaking about this initiative Mr. Kulin Lalbhai, Executive Director, Arvind Limited said, “Arvind has been a pioneer in manufacturing technical textiles and has been doing Protective garments in its Advanced Materials Division (which includes PPE, Gloves, Masks etc.) in India. We believe self-sufficiency of a nation is critical in economy and health related technical textiles. As the current crisis situation demands, we have diverted most of the production to medical PPEs. Arvind is proud to have worked closely with the Government of India and the Ministry of Textiles in setting up the supply chain of PPEs in India. It has been a one-of-a-kind partnership between government and industry to create a new product category from scratch in such a short period of time.”
