The coronavirus has a high rate of transmission between close contacts and therefore public health measures such as social distance, personal hygiene, and infection control are necessary to prevent the virus from spreading. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has reaffirmed this.

Sharing the findings of the first cluster of SARS-Cove-2 infection in Italian tourists in the study, the ICMR also said that the investigation of close contacts of infected is important in pre-symptomatic and symptomatic cases and emphasized that the epidemic The strategy of detecting and examining close contacts to prevent community spread is very important to detect and isolate the infected initially. A detailed investigation of the cluster of SARS-Cove-2 infection between 16 Italian tourists and an Indian was carried out in March-April. The ICMR study was published online in the Indian Journal of Medical Research. It was told that 21 Italian citizens along with three Indians reached Delhi on 21 February. He visited many tourist places in Rajasthan.

One member of the group was a 69-year-old Italian citizen who was admitted to Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Jaipur. On February 29, he saw symptoms like fever, cough, and difficulty in breathing. His report also came positive. His 70-year-old wife did not have any symptoms, but his corona report was also positive. They were isolated.

On 24 March, the other 24 members of the group (21 Italians and three Indians) arrived in Delhi. All were traveling by the same train and were quarantined. All were asymptomatic initially. On March 3, swab samples were taken from his nose and mouth. Of which 15 (14 Italian and one Indian) reported positive and were isolated. Hence 17 out of 26 Kovid-19 were vulnerable to infection by March 3. Nine of these 17 showed signs of the virus, while eight showed no symptoms. Of the nine patients who showed symptoms, six had a mild fever, one severe and one extremely seriously ill.

The top health research unit of the country stated, 'The average duration between the confirmation day of Kovid-19 and RT-PCR negativity was 18 days (range-12-23 days). Two people died with an 11.8 percent mortality rate of cases. The ICMR stated that this study reaffirms the rate of infection spread to be significantly higher in close contacts, so public health steps such as physical distance, personal health, and infection control are necessary to prevent the spread of infection.

It stated, 'Our study cluster showed higher risk rates than the potential rates reported in the current data such as (19.2) percent in the Diamond Princess cruise ship and (16.6) percent in the Grand Princess cruise ship.' The ICMR said that this could be due to the closed environment during the visit, excess of the index case, and frequent exposure. The study stated that cases other than the index case were symptom-free at the time of investigation and about half of the cases were symptom-free during the entire illness.
