32 Venezuelans sent home

The Venezuelans who were intercepted off the coast of Cedros on Wednesday morning by the TT Coast Guard (TTCG) have returned home.
The disclosure was made by Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh on Monday at the ministry’s press briefing.
He said, “The 32 Venezuelans are no longer a matter for TT and have returned to Venezuela on Sunday.”
Reports suggested that the foreigners may have the coronavirus. As such, last Wednesday, National Security Minister Stuart Young said the the Venezuelans and the coast guardsmen were screened by health officials, in keeping with current health protocols.
Deyalsingh confirmed that the 22-member crew of the TTCG were being quarantined at the base in Cedros and they are being managed by the TT Coast Guard unit.
In keeping with protocol, the crew will be quarantined for the 14 days.
