Among the decisions we face in the upcoming election is the composition of Westport’s Board of Health. I believe that now, more than ever, we need a health care professional on our Board of Health. Not simply to help manage Westport’s response to COVID-19, but also to contribute a health care perspective when Westport addresses other important matters.

I support Donna Amaral, a registered nurse, for the open position on the Board of Health. She has 40-plus years experience and has proven herself able to deal effectively with difficult issues and work collaboratively to find consensus solutions.

I encourage voters to take the opportunity to vote by mail, and vote to help put Donna Amaral on the Board of Health.
