DARTMOUTH - The 98-bed Southcoast Health COVID-19 surge hospital located in the Tripp Athletic Center at UMass Dartmouth has closed, according to a press release from UMass Dartmouth.

The hospital was built in partnership with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency to safeguard the capacity of the region’s hospitals during the COVID-19 spring surge.

No patients were admitted to the hospital, according to UMass Dartmouth.

Southcoast Health and MEMA are currently removing all medical equipment from the site and the entire facility will be professionally cleaned. The cleaning process is expected to finish on June 1.
