30 videos and pictures that take you inside Alia Bhatt's quirky home in Juhu, Mumbai

The first big purchase Alia Bhatt made on her own, this apartment creates a cosy vibe with not-so-basic textured walls, quirky interiors and lots of comfy couches. Take a peek inside now!

In a short period of eight years, Alia Bhatt has become a household name in India. The Bollywood actor has proven that she has a style and mind of her own with the distinct characters she has played on-screen—and her home is no different. Alia Bhatt resides with her sister, Shaheen Bhatt and their three cats, Edward, Sheeba and Pika, on the first floor of a residential building in Mumbai's suburban neighbourhood, Juhu. This apartment was Bhatt's first big purchase, and the star bought it at Rs 13.11 crore, almost double its original asking price, in early 2019.

Designed by Richa Bahl, the Bhatt sister's Juhu home is an extension of their personalities, and features a unique aesthetic with white-washed walls, millennial-approved posters, pops of colour, and pendant lights spread across the apartment. Taking inspiration from New York lofts, the apartment seems to recreate the vibe of a home nestled in Brooklyn, but instead of busy streets and red brick buildings, the Bhatt sisters' large windows offer a stunning view of Mumbai's leafy trees. Today, we take you through a virtual tour through Alia and Shaheen Bhatt's cosy, yet functional house.

Alia Bhatt is the girl behind the blue door

The first thing one sees while visiting Alia and Shaheen Bhatt are carved double doors in a cheerful shade of teal blue. Step inside, and you will find two entryways in the lobby: an ivory door that takes you inside Alia Bhatt's residence, and another down the hall that takes you to her dressing room, where stylists, photographers and makeup artists help the actor get ready for outings. The lobby area also doubles as a waiting space, and a dark brown bench, a quirky grey mailbox, and black and white poster add a lived-in feel to the area. Originally a four bedroom apartment, the Bhatts' home was redesigned into a three bedroom space by creating a larger living area, a dining room and this dressing room. While designing the home, interior designer Richa Bahl made sure to the entry for this last space separate, ensuring the sisters' personal living quarters remain private.

Did you notice all the cosy couches and cushions in the Bhatt sisters' living room?

Interestingly, Alia and Shaheen Bhatt's living room brings together a typical NYC loft aesthetic with a more classic look often spotted in homes and lodges in Switzerland. Pristine white walls immediately make the space look double its size, comfortable oversized sofas giving the entertainment area an inviting vibe, concrete-tiled floors add a rustic element, and expansive windows flood the room with lots of sunlight. A favourite spot to catch up with friends is the creamy, cloud-like Roche Bobois couch with black trimmings, which sits under an in-built shelf loaded with one-of-a-kind trinkets including a tiny bicycle, a gold giraffe, indoor plants and ivory candles. On the couch, you will also find cushions of all shapes and sizes, some of which come with cheeky one-liners such as, ‘Wine Not?’ and ‘Nap Time’.

Another fun element one can spot in Alia Bhatt's living room is a black and white Alice In Wonderland throw. By the looks of it, Alia Bhatt is a big fan of the book, and this space includes a handmade poster of the classic too. Keep walking through the space and you'll also come across artworks and photographs set in minimal black and white frames. Adding more drama is the flooring: while some sections of the living room feature grey hardwood floors with geometric rugs, other parts have been tiled in an old-school pattern in pistachio green and terracotta.

A wooden centre table with carved details from The Raj Company sits in the centre of the living area, and a warm pendant light by the Savoy brings in a cosy vibe. Not just this, the living area also has a tan leather single-seater from Marina Home Interiors, Dubai, which is among Bhatt's favourite spots to read her scripts and prepare for her next big project.

Step inside Alia Bhatt's dressing room

Though it has a separate entrance, Alia Bhatt's dressing room is an important corner of her residence. White continues to be an important element in this space with and mirrored walls with white framework help open the room, and allow Bhatt to check out ever angle of her OOTD before she steps out for red carpet events. Tiles in shades of maroon, burnt orange, green and white add a fun element to the room, and this space also includes a little seating area by the window for anyone who needs a quick break during fittings.

Have you checked out Alia Bhatt's all-white bedroom?

Alia Bhatt's bedroom is a comforting sanctuary where the star can let her hair down. A large bed with white and gold frames, adjustable table lamps, patterned cushions and bright blue bedside tables bring together her cosy room, and it looks like her cats love this space as much as her.

Just like the living room, the star's bedroom also features a little shelf full of edgy pieces and treasured family photographs. You'll also spot some of the books Alia Bhatt is reading lined up neatly here. Yellow fairy lights complete this corner, and give it a Pinterest-y finish.

Another must-see in Alia Bhatt's room is a special artwork that further highlights her love of reading. This piece brings together twelve books, placed together like a puzzle to create a sketch of a man surrounded by birds. If you love books, you'll want to take a closer look at it below.

Take a closer look at Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt's tea bar

Fun fact: Both Alia Bhatt and sister Shaheen Bhatt love drinking tea. So when the duo decided to move out of their parents' home, they made sure that their apartment had a special corner dedicated solely to their favourite beverage. Cue their tea bar, which proudly sits to the side of their living space. The dark brown bar with a grey marble top and leather foot stools sits next to a matching dark wood cabinet. A wall hanging behind the bar reads, “I didn’t text you, vodka texted you,” proving this at home bar serves more than just tea.

The bar is also accompanied by shelves for cups, a speaker that comes in handy during parties, and a bright blue cabinet that holds cutlery with a one-of-a-kind metallic owl figurine perched on top. The sisters have lots of little of decor pieces at home dedicated to their furry friends, like the black and white ‘Meow’ poster that hangs at the entrance of their home. A closer look proves that Bhatt's house is also peppered with little old world treasures. Can you spot the vintage black switchboard and wooden clock that rests on the floor?

This spot in Alia Bhatt's home is the perfect background for Instagram pictures

An exposed brick wall in the living room mounted with a stunning Neville Sukhia photograph in a black frame, alongside a light box from The Bowery Company that reads, ‘Take Me To The Moon’ is likely to be one of Alia Bhatt's favourite spots for Insta-worthy pictures. Here, you can get a better look at the interesting tiles on the floor, a rare find from Bharat Tiles.

The dining area is cosy corner in the Bhatt sisters' home

The dining area in Alia Bhatt's house, like the rest of her home, is filled with warm colours. What makes her dining table (bought from West Elm, a furniture store headquartered in Brooklyn) interesting are its mismatched chairs. Right behind this space is a wall of windows set in classic black frames. Right opposite, you'll spot a bookshelf brimming with books by the likes of JK Rowling, Douglas Adams and Stieg Larsson.

The Bhatt sisters' kitchen is a pristine spot

The Bhatt sisters decided to go for soft hues in their modular kitchen. White, of course, controls the aesthetic of this room. While Alia Bhatt's kitchen comes with teal blue cabinets specially ordered from Italy, the rest of this area's colour scheme is muted. Think light wooden racks, walls with white tile work, and deep blue and white flooring. Recently, Bhatt has started her own cooking vlogs, and we've seen her whipping up everything from chia seed pudding to beetroot salad in here.

Have you seen Alia Bhatt's reading corner?

Alia Bhatt has been keeping herself busy during the nationwide lockdown by taking online courses, and has also gone back to reading classics like Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Small Fry. Sharing a glimpse into their everyday routine, Shaheen Bhatt recently shared a picture of her sister which also revealed a new corner of their house. This room, like the rest of the siblings' apartment, features white-washed brick walls. A unique chandelier, a black and white ‘Love’ poster, a yellow arm chair with ottoman, and a wooden centre table with a fun print in the centre elevate the reading corner.
