GURUGRAM: Twelve cops from
Gurugram Police tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. Police is doing contact tracing and so far samples of around 35 policemen have been collected, all from
Udyog Vihar police station. All the policemen were on duty at
Kapashera Delhi-Gurugram border.
The policemen who have tested positive are under treatment at a government hospital while policemen whose samples were collected, have been sent to quarantine centre in
Manesar. The police force at Kapashera border and Udyog Vihar police station has been replaced and provided with
personal protective equipment (PPE) and food supplements with rich nutrients.
The policemen were infected while stopping entry of workers from Delhi into Gurugram at Kapashera border. For last 10 days large number of workers assembled at Kapashera border every morning and tries to make entry into Gurugram, police stop them making entry into Gurugram.
“Some of our policemen have got infected with Covid-19 but they prevented much bigger infection in the city,” said commissioner of police Mohammad Akil adding that entire Udyog Vihar police along with house of the infected policemen have been sanitised and they are conducting extensive contact tracing. He said moral of the police is high and everyone is busy in their respective duties.
Earlier on May 19 two policemen – one from Udyog Vihar police station and another from Bajghera police were tested Covid-19 positive. Policeman from Udyog Vihar police station was posted at Sarhaul containment zone while policeman from Bajghera was posted at Kapashera border.
With the latest cases, total of 14 policemen have been tested Covid-19 positive out of which 13 were infected at Kapashera border.
