17-yr-old detained for killing sr citizen with brick & knife

Greater Noida: A 17-year-old boy was detained on Monday for allegedly killing a 74-year-old man in Ishepura village of Dankaur on May 22. The accused, police said, had admitted that he needed money and tried to rob the man. The boy, however, ended up killing him with a brick and a knife when he resisted his attempt.
Rajesh Kumar Singh, DCP (zone 3) told TOI that Rajendra Sharma was found dead in his farm three days ago. His torch and mobile phone were missing.
“Prima facie, it appeared that someone had murdered him while committing a robbery. We lodged an FIR under IPC Section 302 (murder) against an unknown person. Later, an autopsy report confirmed death due to ante-mortem injuries,” he said.
During investigation, police found that the juvenile had been seen with Sharma a night before the murder. “During questioning, he revealed that he had known Sharma for the past one and a half years. He had come to know that Sharma had some cash and wanted to rob him,” the DCP said. The boy was sent to a juvenile home on Monday.
