40 children suffer food poisoning after eating pani puri in Adilabad

HYDERABAD: As many as 40 children fall ill after eating pani puri sold on a cart in Adilabad district. The victims belonged to Sundaryya Colony and Khursheednagar Colony of Adilabad, the district headquarters.
Soon after the children had pani puri, they started suffering from vomiting and motions. The victims were shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). All the children who were affected by comsumption of pani puri were aged below 10 and were being treated for food poisoning.
Among the children, 20 are from Khursheednagar Colony and another 20 from Sundarayya Colony. The pani puri cart had come to their colonies and the children who bought it started vomiting in the night. Four of the children were also said to be in a serious condition and needed more medical attention.
With the children falling sick and admitted in the hospital, police have started investigation on whether it was only due to eating pani puri from the cart or if it was due to any other reason. Doctors at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) started attending on the children who were rushed to the hospital after 8pm on Monday. As many as 10 doctors began treatment of the children. Hospital authorities said that health of the children was being constantly monitored.
