Kurukshetra health teams and police officials conducting a survey in containment zone of New Colony, Thanesar.KURUKSHETRA: A Delhi-based woman (45) who came to meet her daughter in Kurukshetra, has tested positive for Covid-19 in New Colony of Thanesar city in Kurukshetra district on Monday, told civil surgeon Dr Sukhbir Singh.
“We had received the information from Kurukshetra police about the arrival of a 45-year-old woman of Jahangirpuri, Delhi in New Colony area of the city. She came here to meet her daughter and to know about her health on Saturday and her sample was collected for virology test. The woman reported positive for Covid-19 on Monday. We have informed the state headquarters of the health department that a woman who is a resident of Delhi has tested positive in Kurukshetra district. Presently, she has been isolated at a Covid Care Centre in MMU Hospital, Mullana in Ambala district”, told Dr Sukhbir.
As for contact tracing, Dr Sukhbir said, “We have collected samples of all the primary and secondary contacts of this woman.”
Dr Sukhbir said it would be decided by the headquarters, whether the positive case of this woman would be added to the Kurukshetra district tally or it would be counted in Delhi.
Kurukshetra deputy commissioner (DC) Dhirendra Khadgata told, “Some particular area of New Colony in Thanesar city has been declared as containment zone and a buffer zone has also been demarcated. Each house in this area would be sanitized and a survey would be conducted to further detect any cases.”
With this, the total number of Covid-19 positive cases in Kurukshetra district reached 18, out of which, 3 patients got discharged from hospital isolations, and 15 are now active cases who are isolated and undergoing treatment at designated Covid hospitals.
Dr Sukhbir told, “Out of 15 active cases, six are isolated at Adesh Medical College and Hospital, Shahabad, and nine at MMU Hospital, Mullana, Ambala.”
“So far, a total of 4,377 samples have been collected in Kurukshetra district, out of which, 4,044 tested negative, results of 315 samples awaited, and 18 samples tested positive”, further added Dr Sukhbir.
