Covid-19 positive patients and two deaths in the last 24 hours till Sunday taking the count of infected people to 2,018 and virus toll to 67 till date. Also, 90 patients were discharged.
Meanwhile, the state has now assigned IAS officer Ranjit Kumar with an additional charge to formulate ways to mitigate the rising numbers of positive cases in Thane.
The bureaucrat visited the headquarters on Saturday to understand the situation and is supposed to work in tandem with commissioner Vijay Singhal. The highest cases were reported from Lokmanya-Sawarkar Nagar ward.
Officials said Covid-19 cases in the city have doubled since May 16.
