Muslims across Kerala are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today, marking the end of Ramazan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Amid COVID-19, perhaps for the first time Eid is being celebrated with no mass namaz at mosques and idgahs across Kerala today.
On the occasion, many mosques in Kerala carried out online live streaming of prayers with Muslim clerics addressing the devotees. They urged people to stay home and pray for the end of this pandemic and suffering in the world.
People at large are offering prayers at their homes with family and exchanged greetings online where family members couldn’t join or return from abroad. Considering Eid, the State government has allowed concessions in complete lockdown being declared on Sunday by allowing shops selling essential items and permitting inter-district travel to visit relatives.
