Punjab: Major fire breaks out at yarn mill in Ludhiana

The fire officials were yet to take control of the situation.
LUDHIANA: A major fire broke at RT Woolen Mill (dealing in manufacturing of yarn) in Industrial Area A at RK Road on Sunday afternoon. The fire had engulfed the entire factory but luckily no one was hurt in the incident because the factory was closed at the time of incident.
Ten fire tenders had made more than 100 rounds to control the fire.
The fire officials claimed that a fire call was received at 12.25 pm and in about 12 minutes fire tender from Gill Road fire station reached the spot followed by other fire tenders from five fire stations. The firemen informed fire had already engulfed the unit starting from upper floors. The unit was spread in about 1500 square yards and there was large stock of raw material and prepared yarn was stored inside the unit.
The fire station officer SN Sharma said, “We were trying to control the fire from a long time and it is difficult to say anything when it will come under control. The owner of the factory claimed unit was closed and they were informed about fire by some area people.” He said stock was kept in abundance and we were unable to reach last part of unit due to fire everywhere. He said they were still controlling the situation and 80 percent had come under control.
