Canberra mare Milamoo due for a salute after close calls
It's been a frustrating wait, with a couple of close misses, but talented Canberra mare Milamoo can win her first race this year at Monday's feature Albury meeting.
Not since two wins less than a month apart last spring has the fast-finishing five-year-old daughter of Zariz saluted, but well into this prep she's bursting to reclaim the winner's stall.

Camped at nearby Wagga for her last three runs, she missed by a long neck in the heavy when ridden closer two starts back before rocketing home to go under by a head last start, reminding everyone she's far more effective when ridden cold.
In a Class 2 over 1500m on Monday, Milamoo will carry 3.5kg less in a contest that looks only marginally stronger.
Among the rivals are four-year-old Canberra neighbour Moss The Boss, who also looks well-placed fourth-up with the region's form rider booked, while promising three-year-old gelding Zaberfeldie leads the local charge second-up.
While she sits out that race, the meeting looms as a prosperous one for leading home track trainer Donna Scott.
Heading her bid in a Class 1 Handicap over 1000m is four-year-old mare Pure Phylis, who looks a big chance after rattling home late in a deeper Class 1 here under two weeks ago.
She then saddles up a two-prong assault in a BM 58 Handicap (1175m) with capable mare Hazel's Diary, who can improve sharply third-up, while three-year-old filly Bellarina Magic drops in grade after a solid closing run here in a BM 66.
The stable will try to cap the day in a BM 58 Handicap with tough six-year-old Hail The Hero having his first run in more than eight months but returning off a nice open trial run. He has never missed a place on his home track.
