Trinis on Royal Caribbean cruise ship: What about us?

AS TT nationals who were stranded on cruise ships begin returning home, those on board the Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship say they feel forgotten.
Cruise ship staff were left out at sea after TT closed its borders at midnight on March 22, as part of the counter-covid19 measures.
Six crew members on the Caribbean Princess arrived on Saturday evening. Another 49 on the Disney Fantasy cruise ship which, on Friday, pulled up off the north coast to refuel, will have to wait until Monday to come home.
A Royal Caribbean crew member, who prefered to remain anonymous, said there has been no communication with the nationals on their ship, which is causing uncertainty.
He said the ship is currently en route to Grenada and will then go to St Lucia, and St Vincent.
“We are aware that the government is allowing us back into the country,” he said.
“Our eyes and ears are open but we are not seeing or hearing any date where the 200-plus crew members would be coming home. We don’t understand and we would like some answers concerning this situation.”
He believes the situation is unfair.
Newsday contacted National Security Minister Stuart Young for a response but all calls went unanswered.
More as this becomes available.
