The Spanish government has given La Liga the seal of approval to resume football in the country from June 8 amid COVID-19 outbreak.

Ever since March, the Spanish top division has been suspended due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus across the nation but will be back next month.

"With the endorsement of the Higher Sports Council, the green light has been given for the professional soccer league to be played again, from June 8," Goal.com quoted Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez as saying.

Earlier on Monday this week, La Liga clubs returned to training in small group 'with a maximum of ten players'.

That was a massive step forward towards restarting professional football in Spain.

Footballers were allowed to resume individual training from May 4 as the nation started to de-escalate its lockdown measures.

La Liga will also become the second European football league to return in action after the German Bundesliga.

Numerous measures were witnessed during Bundesliga's return, including no customary handshakes before the kick-off as both sides stepped out to the playing field from different ends of the ground.

In order to maintain all the social distancing norms, substitutes were sitting at 1.5m distance from each other with their masks on.

During the time of goal celebrations, players did not come too close to each other and followed German government's order of following physical distancing.
