Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra cross 50,000-mark, death toll soars to over 1,600

According to the latest state health department data, 3,041 fresh coronavirus cases were detected in Maharashtra on Sunday, taking tally in the state to 50,231.

With over 3,000 more novel coronavirus cases reported in Maharashtra on Sunday, the total number of infection in the state has now crossed the 50,000-mark.

According to the latest state health department data, 3,041 fresh coronavirus cases were detected in Maharashtra on Sunday, taking tally in the state to 50,231.

A total of 58 patients died of the novel coronavirus on Sunday, bringing the death toll in Maharashtra to 1,635.

As of Sunday evening, there are 33,988 active coronavirus cases in the state. A total of 14,600 patients have been discharged so far.

With cases soaring day by day, Maharashtra continues to remain the worst-hit state in the country with Mumbai as the main hotspot.

On Sunday, Mumbai reported 1,725 positive cases, crossing the 30,000-mark at 30,542. Meanwhile, the total number of deaths in Mumbai stands at 988, of which 39 were recorded in the last 24 hours.
