US President Donald Trump has attracted fresh controversy when he went out on his first golf outing, since March, in Virginia amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

US President Donald Trump has attracted fresh controversy when he went out on his first golf outing, since March, in Virginia amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

On Saturday, Trump's motorcade took him from the White House to the Trump National Golf Club as the US president was pictured in typical golf wear of white polo shirt and a white baseball cap.

The United States recorded 1,127 deaths due to coronavirus on Saturday, bringing its total number to 97,048 since the global pandemic began at the start of the year, as per Johns Hopkins University's data.

Meanwhile, the total number of people infected in the United States by the coronavirus surged to 1,666,828 with the death toll claiming almost 98,00 lives in the country, as per the COVID-19 data collated by the Worldometers website at 8:30 AM on this day.

Trump's coronavirus task force coordinator, Deborah Birx, said during a White House briefing on Friday that Americans over this Memorial Day weekend should "be outside, play golf, play tennis with marked balls, go to the beach - but stay six feet apart!"

Globally, the virus has infected a total of 54.17 lakh people as of now while the number of deaths has reached 344,194.
