DIBRUGARH: A day after the first Covid-19 patient was detected in Dibrugarh district, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday visited the
quarantine facilities in Dibrugarh town to take stock of the arrangements. Sonowal inspected the quarantine centres at Manohari Devi Kanoi Girls' College, the girls' hostel of Dibrugarh Hanumanbax Surajmal Kanoi College, Kasturba Gandhi Girls' hostel, Dikom, Parbati Devi ME School, Chabua and Asom Vidyapith High School in Chabua.
Addressing the media during his visit, Sonowal urged the people to strictly follow
Covid-19 protocols and appealed to those who are being quarantined not to violate any rules. Violation of quarantine norms does not only affect the patients but also jeopardizes the whole society and therefore the government has no other option but to take action against the violators, he said.
Saying that state government was taking all necessary steps to bring back the people of Assam stranded in different parts of the country, Sonowal urged people not to panic because of the rising number of Covid-19 positive cases. He urged the people to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the health department like wearing of masks, frequent hand washing and maintaining social distance for winning the fight against the novel
coronavirus. He also requested the people not to discriminate against those who are infected by the deadly virus as nobody willingly becomes a virus carrier.
