Spot yourself in the Radio 1 Big Weekend crowds as we look back at the Bangor event 10 years ago
The free music festival saw headliners including Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Florence and the Machine, Paolo Nutini and Alicia Keys

Exactly a decade ago, some of the world’s biggest artists descended on North Wales for what was the biggest free music event the region had ever seen.
From Justin Bieber to Rihanna, Florence and the Machine, Paolo Nutini and Alicia Keys, more than 30 huge names in music arrived in Bangor to perform at Radio 1’s Big Weekend on the Faenol estate.
Other artists included Ellie Goulding, Scouting for Girls, Biffy Clyro and Vampire Weekend, plus Welsh bands Kids in Glass Houses and Marina & the Diamonds.

Despite almost half a million music fans applying for tickets through an online ballot, only 40,000 were lucky enough to attend one of the UK’s biggest festivals in 2010 - with priority to applicants in the region.
Tickets were allocated randomly, but weighted in favour of those living in Bangor and across North Wales, with a smaller amount distributed nationally.

The news that the radio station’s flagship live music event was coming to North Wales broke in February 2010, when breakfast show DJ Chris Moyles made the announcement live on air from Bangor pier.
In the days leading up to the event, Radio 1 DJs broadcast from a secret location near Bangor.
Throughout the weekend, Radio 1 DJs including Chris Moyles, Fearne Cotton, Greg James, Scott Mills, Zane Lowe, Vernon Kay, Jo Whiley, Edith Bowman, Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw all introduced the bands on each stage, while broadcasting live from the event.
