Metal poles spill on Logan Motorway after truck hits barrier

One westbound lane on the Logan Motorway has reopened but the other one remains closed as authorities work to clear a truck that crashed into a safety barrier and lost its load of metal poles.

Emergency services were called to the scene in the Logan suburb of Meadowbrook about 12.30pm.

Paramedics took two patients to Logan Hospital in a stable condition.

Heavy delays remained throughout the afternoon as police and traffic authorities worked to clear the debris, just before the Loganlea off-ramp.

Heavy westbound delays stretched six kilometres from the crash scene to Loganholme at 4.30pm.

By 5.10pm, one lane had reopened, and the length of congestion had reduced to four kilometres, snaking back to Tanah Merah.

Police urged drivers to avoid the area if possible and allow extra travel time.
