Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted an aerial survey of the areas impacted by cyclone Amphan. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee was also present. Earlier, The prime minister was received by West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankar, political leaders and senior government officials. The state government had urged the prime minister to visit the affected areas. As many as 72 people have lost their lives due to cyclone Amphan which left a trail of destruction in West Bengal. Around 15 people were killed in the state capital, Kolkata.
