LUCKNOW: The number of
hospital beds reserved for
covid-19 patients in the state went up to 78,033 on Thursday from 56,019 last week.
Assuring people that UP has adequate medical infrastructure to treat infected patients, principal secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad, said: "The state has a three-layered arrangement to attend to coronavirus patients and we have 78,000-plus beds reserved for the pandemic."

Yogi Adityanath also expressed happiness over the increase in beds, while directing officials to upgrade the capacity to one lakh beds by month-end.
Reviewing lockdown steps, the chief minister directed health officials to nominate an officer of rank of
additional director or joint director of health in every district to assist the CMO. He also sought a district-wise list of appointments.
"Covid-19 hospitals should follow protocol. No laxity will be tolerated in hygiene and other logistics. Doctors should make rounds of wards and nurses and paramedics should be available to check equipment and provide care. Officials must ensure adequate supply of PPE kits, N-95 masks, three-layer masks, gloves, sanitisers, medicines, pulse oximeter and infrared thermometers in every district," CM told officials,
He also emphasised the importance of training anaesthesiologists and technicians in each district in operating ventilators. He reiterated that pool testing capacity be raised to 10,000 per day.
