Coronavirus LIVE Updates: The number of coronavirus cases in India recorded in a single day crossed the 6,000-mark for the first time on Friday with 6,088 infections in the last 24 hours taking the overall case count to 1,18,447, according to health ministry data. The overall death toll has risen to 3,583 with 148 deaths confirmed in the last one day.
The Maharashtra government has brought 80 percent of beds in all private hospitals across the state under its purview till August 31 this year. Brought into force by an order passed under the Epidemic Diseases Act, the government will now regulate the usage of private hospital bed capacity and has also capped the prices of treatments that can be billed to patients.

India's Coronavirus Count Rise to 1,18,447 | Latest figures by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare shows India confirmed a record daily increase of coronavirus cases with 6,088 cases and 140 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. AIIMS Docs Plan to Study How Long Covid-19 Can Survive in Dead Bodies | AIIMS doctors are contemplating autopsy of a Covid-19 victim to study how long the coronavirus can survive in a dead body and if it can transmit the infection, the Delhi hospital's forensic chief said on Thursday. The study will also help ascertain how the virus affects the organs, Dr Sudhir Gupta said. Informed consent will be obtained from the legal heirs of the deceased for it, he said adding that many more departments like pathology and microbiology would be involved in the study.

Liquor Worth Rs 31 Lakh Seized by Maha Govt | Maharashtra govt seizes illegal liquor worth Rs 31 Lakh in the last 24 hours. The liquor was being smuggled in the state through various sealed borders. Authorities have arrested 32 persons linked to the crime. The government has seized illegal liquor worth Rs 16 Crore at the state borders till date. Nearly 600 vehicles have been seized and 2,664 people were held for trying to smuggle liquor. A total of 5,984 such cases have been registered. The Maharashtra government has allowed home delivery of liquor in all districts except in Mumbai Corporation, Beed and Aurangabad.

PM Modi to Visit WB, Odisha Today | Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to West Bengal and Odisha to take stock of the situation in the wake of Cyclone Amphan, today. Hospitals are allowed to charge their own rates in the remaining 20 percent beds. With 41,642 Covid-19 cases, Maharashtra accounts for a third of all cases in India.
The number of coronavirus cases had risen to 1,12,359 in the country on Thursday while the death toll rose to 3,435, as an increase of 132 deaths and 5,609 cases were registered in 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry.
The increase of 132 deaths reported since Wednesday included 65 were from Maharashtra, 30 from Gujarat, nine from Madhya Pradesh, eight from Delhi, four each from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and three each from West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
The government, meanwhile, released norms for the resumption of domestic flights on Thursday. Civil Aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri indicated that the government was not in favour of quarantining passengers on short-haul flights and that the larger question of quarantining would have to be dealt with in a "pragmatic manner".
"Why are we making a fuss over quarantine? Positive cases won't be boarding and there can be asymptomatic people. The quarantine issue will be dealt with in a pragmatic manner. We can't have 14 days quarantine... it is not practical," the aviation minister said.
