The ministry of home affairs allowed OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cardholders to travel to the country amid the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the Centre has attached certain conditions while allowing OCI cardholders to come to the country. MHA issued an order with the subject “Visa & Travel restrictions in response to COVID -19 - Permitting certain categories of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders who are stranded abroad, to come to India”. According to the order, minor children born to Indian nationals abroad and holding OCI cards. In case of family emergencies like death in family, OCI cardholders can come to India. Also, couples where one spouse is an OCI cardholder and the other is an Indian national and they have a permanent residence in India can come. Besides, university students who are OCI cardholders (not legally minors) but whose parents are Indian citizens living in India can come.
