* State’s liquor vendors want licence fee waivedLiquor brewers and vendors want the government to waive annual licence fees to offset losses suffered during the extended lockdown.
A delegation of liquor vendors met ISN Prasad, additional chief secretary (finance), and M Lokesh, excise commissioner, and sought a comprehensive package to support the sector.
* Bengaluru’s 1st Covid +ve HIV patient under watchAn HIV patient has tested positive for Covid-19 for the first time in Bengaluru, and doctors are closely monitoring how he responds to prevailing treatment protocols.
The Bengalurean was taken to a hospital with influenza-like illness and was found to be infected with Covid-19. He’s suffering from pneumonia too. Housed in the ICU of a designated hospital for three days now, he has been administered high flow nasal oxygen to assist breathing.
* With devotees out, K’taka temples set to take puja, other seva onlineWith temples continuing to remain locked down, a new normal to connect to God is on the anvil. With devotees banned, darshans in temples are set to go virtual, while prasada and teertha (holy water) will be couriered to the faithful.
The state government has decided to livestream prayer and other services at temples across the state from May 27. Devotees will have to make payments online.
* No health screening at district checkpostsEasing the curbs on inter-district travel, the Karnataka government on Thursday announced that there will be no inter-district checkposts for health screening.
Any health screening for passengers travelling by mass transport like buses and trains will be done at the origin of the journey. Only those without symptoms of Covid-19 will be allowed to travel.
“Those who have symptoms will be taken to a fever clinic for further examination. The agencies like railways, private bus operators, KSRTC and others have to strictly screen the passengers before the start of journey. There will be no health screening of passengers travelling by private vehicles across districts in Karnataka,” said Pankaj Kumar Pandey, commissioner, health and family welfare department.

I will warn him. No one can forgive a person for speaking to a woman in that language.”
